lol @ arc. What they did not say, wyatt is that components can fail even without overclocking. OC strss tests to make sure ur parts can handle jamming.

How long have you guys had your stuff OC'ed? mine hasn't burned anything, gone ape sh!t etc.

It's overclocked so long I can't remember......you can't go wrong with pushing that hardware to open its true potential!!

Remember I had to replace a PSU last year because of GPU overclocking.

It's a good thing my motherboard is made of sterner stuff.

A long time ago I OC'ed a Athlon XP Barton 2100 from 1.6-1.81GHz (didn't have the then venerated Nvidia nforce 2 which was even better at OCing) and it ran for about 1+ yr. Then suddenly and thereafter I could NOT run it past defaults without BSOD, crashes in programs etc. Otherwise, I ran my Phenom II X3 BE720 OCed for months on end without a problem then I sold it.

It's because of the huge performance boost from overclocking, i am still running my Q6600 till this day. I've owned it for a little over four years, i ran it overclocked for the last three and its still going strong. It can't compete with newer generation processors in benchmarks, but for gaming and everyday use its still more than capable.

Doh study arc, he IS following the voice of reason, note he put HARD limitations on how far he goes, aka HIS voice of reason is 'don't go past stock voltages' everything is relative.
