My questions is... 8 PCIe lanes... is that 8 16x lanes? 8 lanes = 8x?, 8x8==16x4 ?? what exactly does that mean?

Hmm, i'm disappointed by these specs. Most things remain unchanged from x58 which also has 8 lanes (page 33-34), maximum 32x link width). See what they say there in the slide win? 32 width total, 8 4x, 4 8x or 2 16x, take your pick.

I was also really expecting PCI-SIG to have ratified PCI Express 3 in time for this chipset's release. Because this is meant as a more long term flagship solution, to have a standard on board that will be outdated before the thing even drops will be less than ideal.

And why isnt usb 3.0 native on this platform? Are we going to AGAIN have partners hack on support for this?

Interested in that 'supports performance oc in processor' bit. Does that mean different oc options will appear/disappear depending on the installed cpu?

Really hope this is an early projection of specs and is subject to change.

But NICE @ 10 sata 3 connectors. That sound like some epic raid configs could go down there.

Wow, and they ditch PCI altogether. Looks like I will have to ditch my Sound Blaster audigy altogether.

...and that is why I invested in a PCI-E Xonar DX last December.

I kinda expected that PCI woulda be out the door for the next gen mobos.

But who knows...maybe on-board sound quality might be on par with the
discrete cards, or, depending on the manufacturer, you might get an add-in card
with the mobo.

True, in the real world, mem bandwidth does jack squat in 90+% of cases, but dammit, if you're giving us a new FLAGSHIP chipset, do it right nuh.
