lol @ sorcery

Epic score indeed. Good enough for a top 5 placement. Very very impressive.

Just looked at the pics of you violating the 6990. you said its about 5lbs now. Did you add any support for it? 5lbs hanging onto a MB can't be that safe... Unless i missed something?

5 lbs yes. Not that is just ridiculous!

A machine like that have to stay where it's built.

Can't risk dragging that to a sweat. Next thing you hit a pot hole and pops goes the graphics card.

Ah that clears that up O/C. Thanks. Still though, doesn't sit well with me.

@Wyatt, what age you living in? Drag a PC to a sweat? Why i coming out of my house when i have high speed? Also why i walking out my house, equipment in hand, to play with men who going to sit down right NEXT to me with a headset on and talking to me over a VoIP program? To shake their hand after the game? Isolated gaming in room ftw! XD

*shakes head at Virtue*  :shakehead:

These youths today eh...

The LAN sweat was once the cornerstone of PC gaming eh.
Those of us who have done so remember only good things.
The things you criticise are actually what made LAN sweats worth the 'hassle'.

Lol Arc. Was just giving Wyatt some talk. That's all i had back in the day minus the toting a rig around. W1nTry, myself and 1 or 2 of our cousins would sit down mere meters away from each other playing WC3, SC, Quake 2, UT and even Doom 3 Co-op at one point in time.

But as Wyatt did point out, a rig like Cpt's own isnt going to be easily transported at all. Too many things inside the case that have a possibility of shifting/damaging. As secure as it may be, better safe than sorry

The weight of the block alone is 2.25lbs. Add that to the weight of the card itself plus it's backplate and liquid capacity and you ending up with a lil over 3 lbs. The backplate on the card actually helps with keeping the card level and straight in the pc as well as helping to support the block on the card.

Depending on how you route your tubing those can provide support as well.

not sure what block u have on the 5970

but the block i have is slightly heavier than 3lbs, everything with barbs and water in the scene is close to 5lbs

lol @ virtue, fight down scene yes. You playing Notnice or what??

but yeah, better safe than sorry. I bet GATTers with customized high end rigs like these won't be bringing them to any BYOC events we host in the future for exactly that reason.

They wouldn't want to take the chance of something cracking or popping during mid transport to the venue.

A real shame though, because I would have loved to see some of these beast machines in the flesh.

As a side note, wanted to say how impressed I was with your mobo selection Captain.

It's the same board I've been eyeing for my upgrade. Good to see it putting out some solid performance as the cornerstone of your rig.

+1

^^ thanks a lot

i have been eyeing boards from the get go of the x6 amd i had. now i also considered waiting, but i just couldnt stand AMD sorry. the thing is, the board is cheap, but very very effective....yesterday i ran bf3 with arc and they for a long period of time on 5ghz..work well..also i have the cooling behind the heart.

the other great thing is the fact i have my videocard highly oced to the max without voltage increase...would get higher with more voltage ( not happening ), with only a max of 41c ..... loving that
