Funny thing is I knew a guy when I was in university who could configure a ram-disk using your system ram back in the athlonXP winXP days... it's almost like 'back to the future' with this...

very true

I used to run a ramdisk way back in the day myself.

Considered it when I got this new rig with the 16gb of ram (since Window's and my apps don't really use all of it) but then the SSD is so fast, it really wasn't worth the effort to create a ramdisk.

In the video Notice posted they showed the speed difference between SSD and ramdisk, it is huge. Definitely would be useful in some cases such as photoshop etc. Don't think it is for everyone though.

What I mean, is I am already happy with the speed of SSD. Faster enters into the realm of diminishing returns and not worth the effort (unless its a faster SSD for cheap)

all from my opinion and practical use

sure niche uses can and will be found
