WTB SLI/XFIRE capable PSU Locally
« on: September 21, 2012, 02:26:43 PM »
Sooooooo i'm looking for a high quality PSU, available LOCALLY 850W or greater and i'm looking for recommendations. Why locally you might ask? well simply put WARRANTY. I could grab something of amazon and run the ever so small risk of OTB failure, or I could get something that I have 3-6 months warranty on, which I prefer. So please let me know of the good deals out there. Just as a side note the PSU should be able to supply safely 2x Radeon 7970s or 2x GTX 670s, that's what i'm looking at, always have overhead room!

The few places that offer 6-12 mths warranty on a power supply usually has higher prices than the rest, just saying.

Anyhow check pm and you'll see what i mean.

...and I'm pretty sure Vengeance is referring to 'places' like Euphoric Tech.

They would certainly have what your looking for, but their prices are on the wrong side of ridiculous:(

At the beginning of the month I bought a Cooler Master Extreme 600 Watt from the Wizz. I saw that they had a 1000 watt and a 1250 watt in stock. Unfortunately, the warranty on the unit I purchased is only for one month; I don't know if you could negotiate with them for a better warranty.

I will say though that the PSU I bought died the next day and they replaced it with no hassels.

Yeah that's one of them.

You have to pay extra for peace of mind so you can't complain too much unless you want the hassle of RMA'ing the components back to the online stores you got them from in the first place.

I don't mind paying a little extra...once the local price doesn't go overboard, but that place's pricing scheme reflects
a certain philosophy...as if they alone have access to the internets to order 1337 k0mp3wt0r g3@rz0rz.
I took a gander at their price list...and my jaw dropped...and stayed there the entire time I was reading through it.
Their markup on GPUs in particular...ridiculous.

Lets just say I won't be asking to see any more pricelists.

You just have to ask yourself: is that 'piece of mind worth having to pay almost DOUBLE what you would have, if you imported it yourself?'

For me, the answer is a loud and emphatic 'NO'.

That's why we all have internet now...so we can do our own research and make informed choices about what we buy.

W1nTry, I suggest you check Circuit Zone, as their prices on high-end PSUs tend to be a bit less ass-rapish than the so-called 'competition'.
