No, $450 is 8.1 rt.
Old RT going for $350 now.

If u want full 8 at those prices, u go have to go with Acer/ Asus etc.
MS keeping the full 8 experience at the 899 price point, which is what I said they wud do.

but d kinda horsepower, build, accessories and free stuff u getting with pro 2, is ah rely good value.

the fee international Skype calling alone is mind boggling, needless to say ill be using d hell out of that.
MS finally leveraging their acquisitions to maximize consumer value. 200gb free SkyDrive not too shabby either, I recently upgraded from free 25gb to 50gb, now ill be rocking 250, yummy!

Pricing:

Surface Pro                                   Estimated retail price
64 GB (4gb Ram)   + Surface pen   $899
128 GB (4gb Ram) + Surface pen   $999
256 GB (8gb Ram) + Surface pen   $1,299
512 GB (8gb Ram) + Surface pen   $1,799

I'll be getting the 256 model, 300$ for 128gb+4gb ram extra is reasonable, that 512 model is buss eye, MS could keep that. Unless it coming with all d included accessories or something, but thus far, that's d info I have.

Microsoft Surface Pro 2 Review Round-Up

AnandTech:

Engadget:
Quote
We'll never be sure what sort of sorcery Microsoft performed behind the scenes, but we know this: the Surface Pro 2 is fast. With the same Core i5-4200U processor and Intel HD 4400 graphics found in lots of new Haswell Ultrabooks, we assumed it would perform in line with all those other PCs. In reality, though, it outpaces them on most metrics, especially graphics. And remember: that's with the standard 4GB of RAM; imagine what the higher-end configs with 8GB of memory can do. Now we confess, these performance numbers aren't totally surprising, as Haswell has tended to improve GPU performance more than CPU-intensive tasks. Still, we weren't expecting the kind of leap we saw between the Surface Pro and the Surface Pro 2. And we definitely weren't expecting it to outperform notebooks -- the sort of machines you'd actually want to use for gaming and video editing.

If only they would get rid of the dead weight known as Windows RT... better off going x86 all the way on baytrail and such than dilute the product lines which as figures show has had NO success.

Wintry, Surface RT mite be bussing hard now, but if how they deal with WP is any indiciation, that wont stop MS from trying, trying, and trying again. WP still struggling, and they still burying money into it. But u know what, every year nokia sells millions more phone. They still a blip when compared to the giants, but at least it's growing, and MS have the cash flow to keep it growing, albeit extremely slowly, until it succeeds.

I invite you to read this article:

Why Microsoft Didn't Make a Bay Trail Surface
http://winsupersite.com/mobile-devices/why-microsoft-didnt-make-bay-trail-surface

And you go see why Windows RT getting push regardless, (a lot of ppl wont like what that article has to say, but it looks like that's exactly what going on).

But honestly, 8.1 improve things a lot, I use metro ah whole lot more now, till the point that 8.0 is intolerable.
I really only need classic desktop for work, all other times I does be in metro when on d couch.

All of alyuh who only holding out hope for a cheap surface running windows 8, alyuh betters stop eh, because d articles I reading and d direction it look like Microsoft going, it aint gonna happen. Alyuh betters start acclimating to the idea of Metro being the future. What we know as Metro today, in MS eyes, is Windows.

And what we know as Windows today, in MS eyes is the "Desktop", or in the near future, "Desktop App" for legacy programs.

Wyatt, read the article I post above, and follow it up with this:

http://www.zdnet.com/microsoft-starts-de-emphasizing-the-desktop-with-surface-2-7000022372/

Quote
Microsoft starts de-emphasizing the Desktop with Surface 2

Summary: Microsoft has removed the Desktop tile as one of the Start Screen tiles it displays by default on its ARM-based Surface 2 devices. Here's what's changed.

After using 8.1 for a couple monhts, I personally am completely fine with this direction. And I actually want it. It have so many times I on d couch, and wish I had a metro version of "Remote Desktop Manager" to get work done, than having to fiddle on the desktop using meh surface pen. I like this future, and welcome it with open arms.

And in the long run, it will indeed mean much cheaper PCs, running the majority of things u run on d desktop today.

Mid 2014 for instance, MS is going to release Office Gemini, which is a metro only version of office.
When that hit, will be the nail in the coffin to the traditional desktop, because its one of MS most successful products to date. When that goes Metro, the traditional desktop on Windows RT will be all but useless, and im sure they will phase that out in Surface 3.

Only a matter of time before the same happens in windows, Windows 9 the desktop will be rel downplayed, and im guessing by Windows 10, nobody would care for it.

Men like Arcman and them mite be pulling out they hair, lolol. But that really looks like what MS going to do.
And like I said, my time on Surface with 8.1, I welcome the change.

P.S. I getting my Surface Pro 2 Tommorow,...BOOYA!

This current trend might be what bites them in the ass. I like the surface pro but the price is just to high for the everyday consumer and like most have said RT is not worth the trouble, even with 8.1.

I have no doubt after seeing the success of the ipad and android phones / tablets that a new touch focused interface is going to work.

no doubt whatsoever.

I don't blame Microsoft for trying to get in on that action. They are known for a system that is becoming dated in a touch focused world.

Metro is the future. Agreed....but I am from the old school and I will go down fighting with my start button for as long as humanly possible.

Irregardless.

Thankfully the PC platform is very flexible and we can easily find apps to get around the silly restrictions imposed by Microsoft.

Wish them all the best with the Metro...sincerely....but long live the start button!

And yes, I still want a cheap full fledged Surface! lol

Either that or a winning lotto ticket. Whichever comes first.
