Fine allyuh over exaggeratin de price on consoles man.Allyuh comparing steam sales to regular console prices. But if allyuh take any recent game and compare de prices outside a sale pc is de same if not more expensive.

Over de past 3 months ah pick up about 6 games on psn without havin to cross 59.99 usd,en talkin bout no indies either. Not countin the free games piling up in my backlog. (bioshock infinite next month \o_o/

I en saying pc doh have good sales. Ah just sayin de difference being exaggerated as this giant gap. Ah speakin for PlayStation though ah cah talk for xbox .

Are you a regular Steam buyer?

If you were, you'd see that the gap IS 'that wide'.
In almost every Steam sale there are triple-A titles that go on sale within 3 months of release for 50-60% off in some cases.
Not to mention those that are a year old or more...which can be had for less than 10 US (less than 5 in lots of cases).

How long does it take for those same titles to get that kind of discount for PS/Xbox?

XBL might just be greater than PSN, but there's NO game distribution service out there right now that offers more value than Steam.

...and this is from someone who owns a PS3 AND Xbox 360 eh, so I know of what I speak.
Steam is THE SOLE REASON why I decided to forgo a PS4/Xbone (for now), and decided to beef up my HTPC.  Study dat.

The thing about PC is, u have the freedom to do what u want. U can use the same Xbox controller on a pc just fine. I actually know a few ppl that game like that on pc.

There are a TON of games in my Steam library that play just fine with a controller.
Right now, them Batman games on heavy rotation on my HTPC mini-gaming rig

Most games at launch is 60$ on console and 40 on pc. Those same games quickly fall in price, then u have keys site to buy a key from for dirt cheap. Then there are the sales. Everything combined, yes, its a significant gap. Imagine I get Dead space 3 along with bout 6 other games for 2$ if that lol.

Fighting down this point doh make sense Shaq, eve if d gap not giant, it is definitely there and contributed heavily to my purchasing decisions this rounds. All d games I was looking forward to playing on next gen were all 60$ each. D same exact games was available for all kinda 5$-15$ on steam. (And there's always a steam sale, for every time of the year : Christmas, new years, easter, summer, thanksgiving, back to school, ...i sure I missing some. Then there is amazon, then there is humble bundle, I can go on and on)

Edit: and everything Arcman just said.

Nah..nobody 'screwing up' at all.

Just try to understand where PC gamers are coming from, and why they make the decisions they do.

hey i support pc gaming my only problem is the controls for fps games, i know controllers does work but for fps it dont work for me since there is no aim assist. but if your a hc pc gamer and excellent with a mouse like u guys then console dont have a chance. as i said for all other games a controller works just fine. but alluh have to stop fight down consoles cause both have their pros and cons. for instance 3000 people online playing cod? really. trouble to get into a game except tdm and domination it sucks, on console the community is better

Yh,psn offerings real damn good,pc is de only thing beatin it. The last set though is stuff yuh get free thru ps plus . Which, as you see, more than pays itself off almost instantly.
So for a year you goin and get 2 free game every month dat is 24 games not countin de indies yuh get and the ps vita and ps4 games.

Value fuh so.

hmm, that is an eye opener. I hadn't realized they began discounting digital games in the playstation store so heavily already.

Those $12 and $5 prices are pretty much on par with steam sales.

And the free games balance out the psn plus subscription fee.

Hmm....making it harder to call who has the price advantage now where games are concerned.

This may require some more in-depth analysis. Create a basket of goods like what they use to track inflation and see which platform really is more affordable over a given year.

Nice project for 2014.

AC Black Flag :
PS4:$60, PC:$40 ($30 Steam Christmas Sale)

B4:
PS4:$50, PC:$40

Ghosts:
PS4:$50, PC$40

Ryman Legends:
PS4:$60, PC:$25($10 steam sale)

Lego Marvel
PS4:$50, PC:$22($5 Steam Sale)

.......

PSN mite have some good deals on old games..... but those are what launch prices looks like when compared to PC.
And if a PC game happen to launch at 60$ (Skyrim) it only stays 60$ for ah 2 months. And we don't have to pay for an online service to get those prices.

I not saying psn beatin pc inno brotherman. All i sayin is de gap not as wide as some pc men does make it out to be. And sony doin good by me to make digital more appealing. Some years back i wouldna even consider buying some games from psn but look at it now de thing evolvin, amazon start to sell digital PlayStation games, that might have some effect in de future.

I agree that it growing, but how big u perceive the gap is irrelevant, the pont is, its there, and it matters alot. Just like $100 matter alot to ppl when choosing between ps4 and xb1.

stop fighting it down Shaq, PC prices are better, plain and simple.

and I only bring up prices cause alyuh console men love to tout how expensive a PC is and how cheap a console is, so just pointing out there are significant savings that matter to be had on PC as well as alot of additional functionality to alleviate d cost of a PC.

Messiaah, I honestly thought the gap was huge. If the $12 and $5 prices he quoted above are true...then the gap really isn't as wide as many of us figured.

If you're a gamer who can sit out the rush for a new title and willing to wait for games to go on sale/be available for free via playstaion plus....you could very well equate the PC pricing experience and effectively negate the advantage.

So at the end of 2014, we may have to evaluate two scenarios.

1) For the day one buyers

2) For the gamers willing to wait 3 - 6 months to snag an epic discount

I initially thought scenario 2 would be clearly in the favour of PC. Now, I'm not so sure. Scenario 1 should be about the same, since launch prices are pretty similar across all platforms.

I still think the gap is big enough to be important, those prices quoted above is for old games, and nit every game going to be available for those prices. On PC platform, every last game can be had for a bargain. Those prices I quote above for some of those next Gen titles, is for games that been on the market a while, Sony and ms have no reason allowing them thing on they platform for full launch retail price. Why on Gods earth would I pay 60$ for rayman legends onx Xbox one / ps4 when I could buy d same game looking much better for 5$ on PC. That price difference is huge to me. Some games on psn the gap mite not be that huge, but others d gap is very much huge. Why do I have to pay 60$ for ah dance game? Them men crazy with those prices. I guess if u willing to wait ah good while, u mite be content with the select discounts u getting. But PC has those discounts on all titles right through the year, Significant advantage imo.

And the d PC savings adds up over time , the 20$ and 10$, and 50$ here and there that u saving on every title, will quickly become 200$-300$ over d course of d console lifecycle, even more if u buy alot of games.

That same titanfall that coming, going to be 60$ on a graphically inferior platform, and 40$ on PC, watch and see.

Exactly...let us watch and see.

Meticulously

So we can put some real figures around the analysis and see exactly what kind of savings the PC has to offer.

Gonna start the clock from January 1st and purchase three virtual systems and acquire games virtually. Running tab and see where the final figures end up.

New thread iwmc.

Good idea, go be interesting to see how those turn out St d end of 2014, u go have to have several virtual libraries though, launch price, 2-3 month price, 6-8 month price. That's some wok u give yuhself there lolol.

I can assist by tracking the PC side of things.
