Yeah boy.

I figure two time periods should suffice.

1) Launch

and 2) Best price within 6 months of launch (for those willing to wait)

That should cover a decent number of games by Dec 2014

10 or so should be fine.

u sure psn etal have deals like tomb raider for 4.99 and max payne 3 for 3.99? to name just two off the top of my head? not only steam had deals, but amazon digital had some even better deals.

not sure how psn is in comparison since i sold my ps3 a couple months back, but as I remember it, their deals were decent but the gap was still formidable.

D'oh talk for humble bundle, d amount of epic games I get from those bundles for a few dollars eh.

And then key sites is another thing. When metro last light and bio infinite was going for 60$ at launch, I snag mines for ah cool 22.50 ah price from key site. And didn't have to wait on no sale for those.

The options and prices on PC just epic oui.

I still think the gap is big enough to be important, those prices quoted above is for old games, and nit every game going to be available for those prices. On PC platform, every last game can be had for a bargain. Those prices I quote above for some of those next Gen titles, is for games that been on the market a while, Sony and ms have no reason allowing them thing on they platform for full launch retail price. Why on Gods earth would I pay 60$ for rayman legends onx Xbox one / ps4 when I could buy d same game looking much better for 5$ on PC. That price difference is huge to me. Some games on psn the gap mite not be that huge, but others d gap is very much huge. Why do I have to pay 60$ for ah dance game? Them men crazy with those prices. I guess if u willing to wait ah good while, u mite be content with the select discounts u getting. But PC has those discounts on all titles right through the year, Significant advantage imo.

And the d PC savings adds up over time , the 20$ and 10$, and 50$ here and there that u saving on every title, will quickly become 200$-300$ over d course of d console lifecycle, even more if u buy alot of games.

That same titanfall that coming, going to be 60$ on a graphically inferior platform, and 40$ on PC, watch and see.

no way titanfall will go for 40, even call of duty on steam does hardly be discounted, i think mw3 is still 60 on steam lol activision is cheap and major titles like titanfall rarely get discounted, maybe in 2 years

Dude, I can get mw3 for 22$ on steam right now, no sale. Lololol.

I think u severely underestimating the options of a pc gamer.

Man say 2 years oui. Rofl

It have major triple a titles that went for half price on steam like 3 months after release if that.
Every game on pc can be had at a bargain price, every game. No exceptions.

Either IGN clone me and put me in a room to write this article, or they scour gatt, collect all the required information, and whip up this article. It also address the latest allegation of why developers elegidly not making any money on PC because of cheap prices, which as it turns out, those cheap prices is part of why PC on the rise and devs making money lol:

Haters gonna hate, but if u can set it aside for 10 minutes, have a read of this:

Why PC Gaming is Surging
More than just sweet graphics.

lol, great article. It  basically sums up the past two years of discussions on here about that very topic.

I have one nitpick, this line isn't true

Quote
While flashy PC games like ARMA 3 still need beastly (and costly) video cards to run well, an owner of one of today's standard laptops or desktop units with at least an Intel Core 2 Duo chip and 512 MB of memory can run the majority of games just fine with adjusted settings.

That simply isn't the case. Even modest games like Dota 2, call for considerable horse power to run decent.

The entry level IGPs and APUs will not do the deed, at all.

I have aggressively tested these over the years with that hope in mind....that one day...basic integrated graphics would be sufficient for decent gaming.

Maybe in 2015 we will get there, as the battle heats up between intel and amd on the graphics front, both having been stalled in terms of the raw mhz race for years now and are busy packing more and more on each chip.

Steam Sale Turns $0.99 Game Into Blockbuster

Q-Games, they of Pixeljunk fame, aren't exactly starving artists. They release games on most major platforms, and do pretty well both critically and financially. Especially after the latest Steam sale.P

As a sign of just how important the platform - and especially its seasonal sales - can be to developers, Q's Pixeljunk Eden went on sale for $0.99 thanks to a community vote. And according to studio boss Dylan Cuthbert, thanks to this low price (and prominence within the store that went with it) in just eight hours Eden "made our income to date, again".

In other words, they made as much money in those eight hours as they had the rest of the year. Incredible.

....

Boom!
Bring on the sales!

What? A game sold more copies during a sale than it usually does?
What sorcery is this?

Well when u have the strength right? :laughing7:

PC gaming on the rise, u self now post evidence of a dev selling ten times as much in one sale than the entire time on steam, and valve making money by the truckloads.

Don't see why steam go setup yearly sales if it costing devs money, anyways, u seem to know best, so when u up to it enlighten us.

hold up, lets not get carried away here. PC not becoming "mainstream" anytime soon regardless of all the goodness that is going on with the platform.

WAY too many issues for that to happen.

There is a reason consoles have been wtfpwning PCs since inception and that isn't about to change.

It is great and fantastic that PC gaming is not going to completely die or become largely irrelevant (because that was the trend a few years ago) but don't confuse the increase in activity with any hope of it dominating consoles in our lifetimes.

Unless you're talking about CandyCrush and Farmville....in which case....yes.....lihixxxxxxxx in console mc.
