The portable Xbox is coming: That much, it seems, is no longer up for debate. The question is when such a device will arrive. In an interview posted today by gaming site Kikizo, Shane Kim, a Microsoft corporate VP, confirmed perpetual rumors that the company's popular console will finally be getting a handheld counterpart.

"For us, it's a matter of focusing on 'when'," Kim told the site, "because if we chased after a mobile or handheld opportunity, we would not have the resources and ability to do things like instant-on 1080p HD, Facebook, Twitter, Project Natal ... And so we've chosen to focus on the living room experience from a hardware standpoint, if you will, but we're building a service in Live that will... extend to other platforms. No question about it."

Kim added that, for a portable system, Xbox Live would be the "connective tissue." Plenty of questions remain, the VP added, including whether such a device would also function as a phone (via Windows Mobile) a la the iPhone.

New 360 Dashboard coming August 11

Link: http://tinyurl.com/l9rxdj

"The Games on Demand service that lets you purchase digital versions of Xbox 360 games will be part of the update, and Mass Effect is expected to be among the first releases, along with BioShock, Assassin's Creed, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, and Sonic the Hedgehog. Over 30 games will be available on the 11th."

honestly i dont see the point of this games on demand service if M$ wont let u upgrade past 120GB. i already used up 243GB on my 500GB ps3.
hopefully M$ release a new hdd for d 360 and dont overprice it

LOL...man tryin to start something wit he FIRST post yes.

Most of us don't really care.  BOTH games are just a little too 'realistic' to be any fun.
Which is why there's Grid 2.  :)   The REST of us will be playing that.

Carry on smartly...

360 Twitter/Facebook "before Xmas"

360 Twitter/Facebook "before Xmas"

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/xbox-live-to-get-twitter-before-xmas

Microsoft has said that the Twitter and Facebook applications planned for Xbox 360 will be separate applications rather than part of another broad dashboard update.

Microsoft marketing type James Halton, speaking at an event earlier today, told Eurogamer the company is targeting an "autumn" date for integration of the social networking / tedious showing off sites, but wouldn't narrow it down.

However Halton did go on to say, "It will be before Christmas." He added, "A lot of the background work's been done for a lot of applications that are coming."

We already know they're not in the August dashboard update, which has been extensively detailed and goes live on the 11th.

So there you go. Isn't the future brilliant?
